SCS is pleased to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Saskatoon (“BGCS”) to host our After School Program (“the Program”). All SCS students are welcome to participate but the program is intended for students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 6. The Program will run through the school year, and commences on September 5. Afternoon sessions end at 6 p.m.
SCS offers space free of charge but the Program is administered entirely by BGCS so all enquiries related to the Program should be emailed to Lindsay Roy.
Although Saskatchewan does not maintain a standard of care for before and after school programs, the BGCS After School Program is operated according to the HIGH FIVE® standard of quality for children’s recreation and sport and, as such, adheres to 5 principles of healthy child development – a caring adult, friends, participation, play, and mastery. Snacks, if necessary, are the responsibility of each parent but must be “nut free”.
To participate, your family must complete the After School Program Registration Form and pay the annual registration fee ($40, if paid by August 15; $60, if paid after August 15). The After School Program is provided on a fee-for-service basis. Click here to view the 2018-19 rates. You will be billed after each month by email and payment is only accepted by pre-authorized direct debit or pre-authorized credit card.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure the success of the Program and the safety of our students, any elementary students found in the school 15 minutes after the last bell at the end of the school day will be considered as participating in the After School Program and parents will be invoiced accordingly.

Students are asked not to have any medications on their person at school. Any medication must be stored at the School Office. This is for the safety of our students. No student may at any time give any type of medication to another student. If your child needs medication to be stored at the School Office, please provide the medication to the School Office along with the Provision of Medication form.
If your child has emergency medication such as an epi-pen or inhalers, please provide this medication to the School Office along with a completed Anaphylaxis Emergency Plan form. Bruce Denie, our dedicated caretaker and friend, will be retiring this month!
Bruce has been a part of the SCS community since 1987, and was even a part of the construction of the school building we occupy today. His three boys attended SCS for their elementary years (SCS did not have a high school in those days). Bruce has been an SCS Custodian for 16 years and has seen many students, parents and staff come and go (with their shoes off, of course).
One of the pictures that comes to mind when remembering his years at SCS is Bruce standing in the high school boot room, hot chocolate in hand, gently reminding students to remove their dirty footwear. While his biggest pet peeve is the dreadful sound of furniture being mercilessly scraped across the tile floors, you can still always count on Bruce for a smile!
One of Bruce’s favorite tasks as a custodian was enjoying the great outdoors while mowing the grass and attending to the grounds. His mowing may have slowed down a little over the years, but his passion for our school is still at high speed!
So what is Bruce doing after retirement? Hibernating! He has a trip planned to his favorite destination, Mexico! Don’t worry, we will still see Bruce around when picks up his grandkids from school and fills in for Art and Don from time to time.
Before his last official day on November 29, take a moment to seek Bruce out and thank him for the endless clean up, shine up and fix up over the past 16 years, and wish him well in this new stage of life. He will be missed!
October 1- June 29, 2020 | Light the way campaign
You are invited to participate in our "LIGHT THE WAY" initiative, a fundraiser to upgrade our current fluorescent lights to LED throughout the entire school. If every family donated only $100, we could light up our school!
Thank you to everyone that has donated to our “Light the Way” initiative!! As of November 15, we have raised $900 towards our $20,000 goal!! Keep up the illuminating work!
