Dress Code
“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:19

The key words regarding dress at school are: clean, neat, functional and modest. We expect that the staff and parents will model these goals within the school.
  • Students are not to wear clothes that carry offensive slogans, offensive pictures or that advertise tobacco or liquor products.
  • Students are not to wear torn or sloppy clothes, since such clothes often lead to careless behaviour. It is important to remember that the school is the student’s workplace.
  • Students in kindergarten to grade 3 are to wear clothes that allow full participation in physical education classes. Extremely baggy or tight clothes that limit movement are inappropriate. Skirts or dresses are not appropriate on days when physical education takes place. Students in grades 4 to 12 are required to wear a gym uniform purchased through the school for physical education classes.
  • Shorts and skirts should be modest in appearance and length.
  • Tank tops and “spaghetti” strap tops are not appropriate classroom wear for either boys or girls.
  • Bare midriffs are not acceptable.
  • Pants must be pulled up so that underwear is not showing.
  • Headwear such as caps, bandannas, toques, etc. will not be worn inside the school.
  • No gang-related clothing or paraphernalia, which also includes Goth dress.
  • No facial piercing of any type.
  • Students are expected to have two pairs of shoes, one for inside wear and one for outside wear. The reason for inside and outside shoes is so that our school can be kept as clean as possible. If a student is unable to have two pairs of shoes on a particular day the student is to inform his/her teacher so that the student will not be placed in an awkward position during a fire drill.
  • Neither bare feet nor stocking feet will be allowed in the school.
  • Students are expected to dress according to the weather so that, if at all possible, they can spend time outside during recess and noon hour. In the case of extremely cold weather students will be allowed to participate in indoor activities during recess and noon hour.
  • Discretion about proper dress is the overall responsibility of the school administration.
